The one-time voice of Dream Academy and longterm multi-instrumentalist with such as Van Morrison, St John is also a song writer of some quality. Here she links chanson, jazz, blues and folk-oriented ballads. There are times when things border on the twee, but it's mostly a visit to a gallery packed with water colour beauty, encompassing reunions with Ravishing Beauties' cohort Virginia Astley and Georgie Fame, who has played alongside St John in the Van Morrison band. Vocally a kind of frail, more vulnerable Sade, St John has fashioned something to fill grey days and summer nights.
